Criteria
- Criteria scientific quality and feasibility:
- Quality of proposal: scientific excellence (projects should be state-of-the-art and cutting edge and must position Wageningen UR at the foreground of the scientific research area)
- Quality of PhD candidate: based on Master programme grades, additional extracurricular scientific activities and references
- Feasibility of project: degree of ambition versus realism (the project should substantially further the knowledge, but should, at the same time, include endeavours which are achievable within a realistic time frame)
- Eligibility criteria:
- Only new projects will be eligible
- Only projects developed by the master student her/himself are eligible
- Research focus should fit in WASS themes
The abovementioned criteria will not be weighted; projects should score as high as possible on all criteria.

February Call Open Round
1st July Deadline submission proposals
July Pre-selection
September 1st Round: first selection
October 2nd Round: selection of proposals plus possibly
telephone conversation;
November 3rd Round: Presentations/interviews of candidates;
advice on ranking of proposals and relevant chair
group for supervision
December Decision on allocation and decision on supervising chair group(s) by Director WASS
